Every Monday morning, students, staff and faculty head over to the newly expanded GCU Arena for an hour of worship, fellowship and a deeply profound message to begin their week.

Although GCU seeks to integrate Christian faith and practice into all aspects of campus life and academics, no statement of faith or religious affiliation is required of prospective students, with the exception of majors in the College of Theology.

Established as a Baptist-affiliated institution with an emphasis on religious studies, the school initially offered bachelor's programs in education. Programs expanded to include the sciences, nursing, business, music and fine arts.

RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION AND DENOMINATION

As an interdenominational Christian university, Grand Canyon University builds a community based upon diverse traditions and denominations that grew from biblical roots. We express our vibrant faith and concern to honor and emulate Jesus Christ in all we say and do.

Grand Canyon University (GCU) is a private, for-profit Christian university located in Phoenix, Arizona. While GCU was founded by the Southern Baptist Church, it is not owned by the Mormon Church (also known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints).

Is GCU a dry campus? GCU is a dry campus. The possession and consumption of alcohol while on campus is strictly prohibited among faculty, staff and students. Additionally, individuals cannot be under the influence of alcohol while on GCU's campus.

Introductory Anatomy and Physiology, affectionately known as “A & P,” is rumored to be one of the toughest classes on Grand Canyon University's campus.

Grand Canyon University's annual tuition rate is $16,500 for in-state and out-of-state students.

Party Scene

Tons of raging parties almost any night of the week. Lots of options Wednesday-Saturday. Some decent frat/house parties, weekends only. Good parties are few and far between.

What is the controversy with Grand Canyon University? ›

The Federal Trade Commission sued Grand Canyon University and its educational services provider last week, alleging that the institution deceived students about the cost of its doctoral programs and misrepresented itself as a nonprofit college.

In terms of enrollment, Grand Canyon University has a total of 7,620 students, with 2,862 men and 4,758 women. The acceptance rate is 20%, placing GCU in the top 5% of universities in terms of selectivity.

GCU's College of Theology

The Grand Canyon Theological Seminary is the College of Theology's graduate school. As such, GCTS offers advanced theological training grounded in biblical truth within the context of a rich graduate culture and a vibrant and diverse community of faculty and students.

We require a 3.0 cumulative, unweighted GPA. If your student does not meet the GPA requirement, he or she may still be eligible for admission with an ACT score of 19 or an SAT score of 920. Our website offers more information about admissions requirements.
